Please be aware of various scams and schemes impersonating Greenwood Title, Inc. its officers or employees.

Greenwood Title, Inc. has recently become aware that the names of Greenwood Title, Inc. and/or the company’s officers or employees have been used without permission in phone calls, e-mails, or otherwise to solicit acceptance of real estate contracts and earnest money deposits.

Examples of such fraudulent activities, as reported to this office, involve the solicitation of earnest money deposits made payable to a fictitious company named Greenwood Title & Escrow or to a related controlling person, persons or entity as a means of accepting bids on prospective purchases of property marked for rental, rehabilitation or other investment purpose.  These Contracts of Sale, namely Assignment Contracts, involve investment properties marketed to real estate investors on various social media platforms and/or real estate related message boards and forums.

Be advised that Greenwood Title, Inc., its officers, and employees have no relationship or connection whatsoever with such fraudulent activities, including the marketing for sale or quick settlement of real property purchased or contracted to be purchased in this manner.

If you receive a phone call or email purporting to be from Greenwood Title, Inc. requesting a transfer of funds, do not reply or comply at that time, and instead contact Greenwood Title, Inc. and/or your loan officer or realtor through official channels to verify the request.
